Who We Are
Welcome to the DMV!
The Student Affairs committee maintains direct engagement with current Penn Staters – those who are from the DMV and looking to relocate. To do this, Student Affairs hosts events and activities that engages local students planning to get to Penn State, as well as opportunities for current students to connect with Penn Staters living in the region.
What We Do
Student Break Bus Trips
For student breaks during Thanksgiving, end of winter session and spring break, Penn State DC offers buses between University Park and the DMV for returning students. View the 2024-2025 student bus schedule here.
Student Sendoff
This annual event is a celebration for new Penn Staters from the DMV. This BBQ-style event offers students and their families an opportunity to engage with the Penn State community before starting their college careers.
Student Engagement
Outside of hosting events, Student Affairs serves as a resource for current Penn Staters as they navigate the University. Whether you’re home on break or interested in staying connected, we want to support you!
Student Break Bus Trip Refund Policy
Have your plans changed and you’ll no longer be able to join us on the student break bus trip? We have options to accomodate changes in your rider’s plan! We offer the one of the following options to refund your purchase of the student bus break trips below:
Transfer Your Ticket Purchase
Transfer your student bus ticket purchase to another upcoming bus trip within the same academic year.
Refund Your Ticket Purchase*
*A full refund of the student bus ticket purchase may be provided if the request is made one week (7 days) prior to the commence of the trip. Email requests may not be completed due to the level of communications we receive.
Donate Your Purchase to Scholarship Fund
Ticket holders are permitted to forego the use of their ticket and donate the cost towards our chapter’s scholarship fund. This will allow us to release the ticket for repurchase – and bolster our ability to serve students.
Refunds cannot be prpvided after a trip’s completion. Any requests made one week (7 days) after the commencement of the trip will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Refund requests may be submitted to the Metro Washington Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association using the below form.
