2026 Annual Student Sendoff & BBQ

Please join us at Cabin John Park as we welcome the newest group of Nittany Lions as they join the Penn State family!
The day will include food, drinks, games, giveaways and more!
During the picnic, we will host a session where freshmen can chat with former students to find out all there is to know about campus life. We will also have a special session for parents to speak with current student parents to ask all the important questions.
RSVP pending- ticket sales will open later this year. Once they do, please kindly register using the RSVP link so we can ensure there is enough food and drink. Expect typical BBQ fare (salads, grilled meat, fruit, and dessert).
Event Volunteers Needed: The chapter also needs alumni volunteers that can be present from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM to help setup, greet guests, mingle with students and their families, take photos, cleanup, etc. Please register if you’d like to help us run this important event! Be sure to RSVP using either the “Incoming Student” or “Family & Friends” RSVP tickets once they open as well as signing up for volunteering.

Location: Cabin John Park – Group Picnic Area (7400 Tuckerman Ln, Bethesda, MD 20817)
Cost: Free to all incoming freshmen and their families, current students as well as any PSU DC Metro Alumni Association members.
Tickets: RSVP pending and tickets will open later this year.
Attire: Wear your favorite PSU gear! The event is entirely outside, so please dress accordingly.
Parking: There is a parking lot directly next to the Group Picnic Area, but space may be limited, so encourage early arrival and carpooling.
